GOP Values At Work: Republicans in Congress Protected A Homosexual Pedophile
And THIS is supposed to be the "family values" party?
Republican leaders in the House of Representatives knew in 2005 that Representative Mark Foley was sending provacative emails to a male page. Yet, they took no action again Foley, and allowed him to remain as the head of a Congressional caucus that was focusing on children's issues, according to the New York Times.
In other words, Republicans protected a homosexual pedophile.
The silence from the religious right on this issue is astounding. Where are James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the rest?

The fact of the matter is that Mark Foley is a PEDOPHILE. And your ilke in the House of Representatives KNEW he was sending thsee inappropriate emails to that male page.
That's the issue we are dealing with here, not Ted Kennedy (who, by the way, has never been accused of being a pedophile).
Just curious, if this was YOUR son Mark Foley had been emailing, would you still be defending him?

I think all homosexuals like them young and Foley is no different. He should have been run out of office as soon as it became known he liked penis. That alone disqualifies him for a conservative congressional spot. I'm surprised the Donks, who love penis munchers didn't try to flip him years ago.

Obviously you don't want to deal with the fact that YOUR party protected a pedophile. That won't exactly play well with you all's base, will it?

Extortion is illegal and yet we still have William Jefferson...
Murder is illegal (and at the time adultery) still taxpayers salary Ted Kennedy...
Remember Gerry Studs? First openly gay Dem in Congress had sex with a teenaged page? Congressional response: Censure...that's right! A slap on the wrist!
So, Ms. Millard, if you want to condemn this deplorable act then do so with an even hand not partisanship because your party has guilt on it's face, blood on it's hands, and semen all over the place.

It is deplorable what he did and he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. However just because you don't get a comment YET from the likes of James Dobson who isn't in the Government and would have just found out as we did, does not mean he condones it. He often has spoken of the dangers and outright criminality of pedophilia. With all due respect this is unfair. If you want to call out those Republicans in Congress who knew in 2005 about this then that would be fair, but implying that some on the religious right have not commented to your satisfaction is hardly fair. They don't comment on every single political issue.
You would also be ignoring the fact that Dobson has been ticked at Republicans.
We should also be focusing on helping the young victim in this case.
At least four Republican House Members, one senior GOP aide and a former top officer of the House were allegedly aware of the allegations about Foley that prompted the initial reporting regarding his e-mail contacts with a 16-year-old House page. They include: Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds (N.Y.) and Reps. Rodney Alexander (R-La.) and John Shimkus (R-Ill.), as well as a senior aide to Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and former Clerk of the House Jeff Trandahl.
Boehner strongly denied media reports late Friday night that he had informed Hastert of the allegations, saying "That is not true." Reynolds refused to comment.
Shimkus, who chairs the page board, and Trandahl, who administered the program, met with Foley in 2005 after learning of Foley’s e-mail exchange with the former page by Alexander. Shimkus released a detailed statement Friday night.
House sources said that Foley denied any improper sexual activity when confronted by Shimkus and Trandahl. Their information only included some August 2005 e-mails that contained no references to sex or other improper behavior, and not the other messages that have been reported by ABC News.

Hey, here's a question: where is Cokie Robert's (and others of her ilk) outrage about this story? She was all for beating the drum against Clinton for his relationship with Monica Lewinsky, who was, by the way, a consenting adult. This was a grown man in constant contact with a boy who is not old enough to vote, drink, or drive and yet Clinton was denounced as this lecherous person for "preying" on a young girl...a young girl who sought out her target, not an authority figure constantly emailing a child

Clinton got in trouble for lying to a grand jury...the sex was only important to some in that if you can't be honest with your wife why would he be with the American people but that is besides the point.
Foley should be investigated.
Were Dobson, Robertson and Falwell upset with Rep. Jefferson accepting bribes and not resigning? Where were the calls form Democrats for his resignation?

hey shalana I guess you missed this one: (I found this on the DNC website. hahahahaha)
James Dobson, Focus On The Family: "Who Can Overlook What Foley Has Done? I Mean, That Is Breathtaking." "A leader of evangelical Christians, James Dobson of Focus on the Family, condemned Mr. Foley but seemed less sure of the incident's political impact. 'Who can overlook what Foley has done? I mean, that is breathtaking,' Mr. Dobson said yesterday on a radio show hosted by a conservative commentator, Laura Ingraham. . Mr. Dobson said voters might forget about the Foley affair by Election Day, but conservatives are still 'ticked' that the GOP has failed to push measures of interest to so-called values voters. 'The Republicans have done very little that they care about,' Mr. Dobson said." [The Sun, 10/3/06]
