Blank Check

@ 08:52 PM (49 months, 11 hours ago)

The Republican Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has all but admitted that the U.S. Congress wrote George Bush a blank check to go to war, without examining the facts.

Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) said on Fox News Sunday: "I think a lot of us would really stop and think a moment before we would ever vote for war or to go and take military action.  We don't accept this intelligence at face value anymore. We get into preemptive oversight and do digging in regards to our hard targets."

Memo to Pat Roberts: This is what you call Monday Morning quarterbacking.  If you had done your job as a United States Senator, and asked the tough questions that needed to be asked up front, perhaps we would not have well over 2,000 dead soldiers.

  2. Real mature and insightful post there! (insert sarcasm here)

Are you even capable of discussing the issues in an intelligent manner?

In your "comments" you have not even addressed the substence of my post: which is that the United States Congress should have done their job (oversight) and asked the questions that needed to be asked, before they wrote Shrub a blank check for his war.

  3. Hello....if there was something remotely intelligent contained anywhere other than in comments made by individuals other than the blogster...there would an opportunity...i suppose the blogster must be a blonde:

she sent me a fax with a stamp on it
-she thought a quarterback was a refund
-she tried to put M&M's in alphabetical order
-she thought meow mix was a record for cats
-under "education" on her job application, she put "Hooked On Phonics"
-she tripped over a cordless phone
-she put lipstick on her forehead because she wanted to make up her mind
-she got stabbed in a shoot out
-If you gave her a penny for intelligence you'd get a refund
-they had to burn down the school to get her out of 3rd grade
-she took a ruler to bed to see how long she slept
-at the bottom of the application where it says "sign here".. she put "Sagittarius"
-if she spoke her mind, she'd be speechless
-she studied for a blood test and failed
-when she heard that 90% of all crimes occur around the home she moved
-when she took you to the airport and saw a sign that said "AIRPORT LEFT" she turned around and went home
-did you hear about the blonde that got an AM radio? It took her months to figure out she could use it at night
-she thinks Taco Bell is the Mexican phone company

  4. Terrorists and Their Ilk and Maybe Even Their Liberal Supporters, (for example, the blogmeister of this particular blog/pap) Deserve Whatever They Get....The Geneva Convention Does NOT Apply....End of Story

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.

I'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and ---- you guessed it - - - I don't care ! ! ! ! !

  5. Your problem is that you are obviously intellectualyl lazy, and an right-wing extremist.

I don't think extremism on any level is good. I don't think right-wing extremism is good. I don't think left-wing extremism is good. And I don't think Islamic extremism is good.

Your first post made absolutely no sense, and had nothing at all to do with the blank check that Congress wrote this administration for its illegal war, which is what this thread was supposed to be about.

Now as for your second posting...

We are no longer engaged in a war on terror. We were engaged in a war on terror when we (rightly so) invaded Afghanistan. I supported the military action in Afghanistan, because that's where the people who attacked us on 9/11 where hiding.

However, this Administration took it's eye off the ball.

A few days after 9/11, George Bush said he was going to hunt down and smoke out bin Laden, and that he wanted him "dead or alive."

Fast forward some many months later, when he said he did not know or care where Osama was.

And during the Presidential debate last year, he LIED about saying he didnt know or care where Osama was. Fortunately, many of the networks played the video tape of him saying just that, so he was caught in a lie.

We are NOT engaged in a war on terror in Iraq, because Iraq never threated us, or posed a threat to us.

We actually TURNED Iraq into a terrorist country, by our invasion there.

  6. From all the cutting and pasting of nonsense in this here blog....that is just PLAIN lazy

Comment by are you kidding?— 2005/11/17 @ 06:58 PM — (Reply)

  7. I'm simply cutting and pasting material that I think is relevant to the conversation on here.

    It's not being lazy.

In fact, if you even had a clue, you would know that's called SOURCING.

I'm simply providing you sourcing to go along w/ the conversation on here.

And if you think that there's such "lazy" work on this blog, why do you continue to visit here?

Obvioulsy you are finding something attractive about this blog. Perhaps your body is in shock, because it's finally been exposed to the reality-based community.

But again, if you are not finding anything of interest on here, you're more than welcome not to return. You don't bring anything of value to the conversation on here anyway. Just a bunch of right-wing hate speech that I could turn to Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity or Parshall to hear, if I wanted to.

  8. Meowwwwwww......What I have noticed is the lack of any attempts to rebut the ultimate veracity maintained on a regular basis on "a small dose of reality"

    Comment by HAHAHA— 2005/11/18 @ 08:18 PM — (Reply)

  9. You wouldn't know veracity and reality if it bit you in the face.

That's the sad thing about the Republican Party of today. They don't live in the reality-based community.

Even when all the evidence presented to them, tells them they should go east, they continue to go west.

A perfect example of this is how even George Bush's most loyal minions in the WH realized he didn't "get it" when it came to the devistating events in New Orleans. They realized he did not understand the magnitude of what was happening on the ground in New Orleans.

So by that Thursday after the hurricane struck, Dan Bartlett had to make George Bush a freakin' DVD of some of the newscasts from New Orleans.

Intellectually lazy George Bush had to be shown a DVD to prove to him what was happening on the ground.
