FEMA's Unkept Promises

The Associated Press reports that despite pledges to the contrary a month ago, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has failed to re-open four large no-bid contracts relative to Hurricane Katrina.

FEMA had promised to re-open the no-bid contracts, and had also promised to hire more minority-owned firms.

To date, those promises have gone unfulfilled.

Now is the time for the Congress to truly exercise its oversight function, and hold FEMA's feet to the fire.

  2. Are you even aware of the facts and the issues? Are you even capable of discussing the issues in an intelligent way?

    Obviously you are intellectually lazy.

    The problem is that places like Halliburton and Bechtel HAVE been receiving those contracts. That's exactly the problem.

    They were awarded many of those contracts without any bidding. That's the problem.

    If you can't bring any intelligent conversation on here, please don't bother to post.

  4. Yes, and I would have to say that I disagree with President Clinton for giving those no-bids to Halliburton. He was wrong as well for doing that.

    However, the difference is that Dick Cheney used to head the company. He's still financially tied to them. So when they make money, Cheney makes money. It's cronyism.

    Since you have chosen to make your extreme liberal leanings part of the public doman, you might reasonably expect that there might be those who may disagree or perhaps take offense to your positions (that is what they are you know, your point of view, certainly not fact or truth). If you are thin skinned to the point of being offended to the point of making personal threats, maybe journaling in the thing for you.

    First, let me say that I am not an extremist of any sort.

    But I am a proud liberal. Why am I a liberal?

    I am a liberal because we believe in following Jesus Christ's admonishment that "as you did it for the least of these, you did it unto me."

    Liberals believe we have an obligation to the least among us.

    Liberals believe that you don't balance the budget on the backs of the poor.

    We believe in universal health care.

    We believe in equality for everyone.

    I am a proud liberal.

    What I take issue with, is someone coming on this blog and not even addressing the issues at hand.

    I take issue with someone asking me which person did I want to "do": Janet Reno or Hillary Clinton.

    I am not "thin skinned." I believe in treating people with respect, obviously which you and your fellow wingnuts don't know anything about.

    And your extremist kind are NOT welcome on my blog.

  16. I have always tried to have intelligent conversations with you and I have never resorted to the type of comments in this thread. I have no control over who comes to my blog and who would then come to yours from my blog. I sign the comments I make and am not afraid to let you know when I do. For that reason I will not remove it. If you don't like the comment that is left you can remove it from the "manage my blog" link. :grin: I don't believe you have even been to my blog because if honoring those who have fallen in this war, raising money to help those wounded, remembering veterans and exposing the enemy is trash and filth then lady with people like you it will just be a matter of time before you will be wearing a burgha.

    So my issue is not with you. It's with the other posters.

    However, I would never put a link to your blog on mine, without your permission.

    So I think you need to respect my wishes, and take down the link to my blog that you have on your blog.

    Obviously your blog attracks a certain caliber of people that I don't wish to have on this blog.

    So again, please remove the link. I will inquire with BlogHi and see if they have a policy on this (links to other blogs).

  20. P.S. I am not sure why you think they came from my blog unless you are using statcounter, but blaming the fact that I have a link to your blog will not help. They can just save it as a favorite. I suggest you just delete the comment and leave a note saying you deleted a comment. Most blogs do that when they have a troll.

    If they tell me that you are required to remove the link, if that is what I ask, then that is what I will expect you to do.

    You're right---your readers should get a divergent point of views. No argument on that front.

    But again, I take issue with the quality of your readership, because obviously you have intellectually lazy readers who know they don't have the issues on their side. And the only way they know how to argue a point, is to make degrading comments such as the ones exhibited on here.

    Anyway if you are so upset with what people are posting set up your preferences so that commenters must register first. That will fix your problem. If bloghi! will let a jihadist and a wacky liberal have a blog here they will not make me remove the link. I thought you "progressives" were all about free speech and diversity. Again I am not sure why you are blaming the fact that I have a link to your blog for someone you don't like leaving comments here then again delete them or make them register to leave a comment.
